Another Sunny Day

With the first breeze of Fall rolling through New Orleans this morning I felt it was appropriate to wear a scarf this afternoon.  I should mention that this is a lightweight Summer scarf, it’s not quite warm enough to break out the functional warm-weather scarf yet!

Today we’re back in City Park, our favorite!  Austin and I went for a long walk all around the grounds to get a little exercise and enjoy the beautiful day.  It kind of felt like we were a couple in a movie, holding hands and admiring the flowers.  So sweet and romantic!

Have you had a chance to take some time to ‘smell the flowers’ lately?

Easy and Fresh

September 28th, 2010 § 7 comments § permalink

Something I often struggle with when I get dressed is wearing what’s easy versus what’s fresh.  Easy is likely something I had worn previously or recently, or maybe an outfit I had put together before.  Whereas fresh is a more unlikely combination, something maybe a bit outside my comfort zone, or even just a new spin on an old favorite.

This outfit combines both scenarios: this chambray top is a favorite go-to of mine, and these pants are a definite staple in my wardrobe (I mean they are black pants!). The spin comes from pairing them with these fun wedge boots, messy beach hair and elongating accessories.  Maybe this doesn’t seem like much, but these small changes give this look a totally different feel, something so important for a girl like me who’s working a wardrobe on a budget.

This yummy Coach bag is a special piece in my closet. My grandparents gave it to my Mom on her 10 year wedding anniversary.  I happen to be obsessed with this line of camel leather Coach bags from the 90′s and after noticing she hadn’t worn it for a while I crossed my fingers and asked if I could borrow it.  And, well, you see how that turned out.  Thanks, Mom!

No Remorse Stripes

September 27th, 2010 § 6 comments § permalink

After a little putter in my posting schedule, I’m back on board.

I found this blouse while thrifting at my local Goodwill a few weeks ago.  This is one of those items that you pick up, then put back, then pick up again.  While I loved the little side buttons and crop fit, I just didn’t see it meshing with my wardrobe at first.  Good thing I went ahead and took the plunge, because now I’m so in love with it!

On this particular evening I went to a meeting then a networking event, so I paired it with these navy blue cropped + cuffed pants to keep the look cute and casual.

Do you ever have buyers’ remorse when thrifting?  How do you deal – leave the item or buy it?
