Flower Pin: Vintage; Nails: CHI Last Night on Wisteria Lane
This freebie nail polish came with a hair straightener I bought last Fall – CHI’s Last Night on Wistera Lane. Fuschia didn’t really strike me as a color I was interested in so it’s been sitting at the bottom of a drawer ever since. In considering my nail color this week I reminded myself that I would be joining my best friend from high school for her bridal shower and bachelorette party in a few days, and really what better color to wear for a girly celebration than a shade of pink?! This color would have matched quite perfectly with this dress, too, don’t you think?

Dress: Vintage, formerly mom-in-law’s; Belt: Thrifted; Sandals: Gap; Bucket Bag Vintage Coach via Crossroads Trading Co; Nails: OPI Havana Dreams
On my walk to Greek Fest on the bayou I heard someone yell from a passing car “I love your toga!”. When I looked to see who they were talking to I realized it was me. Erupting in a fit of laughter I couldn’t believe I overlooked the fact that my long white linen dress could be mistaken for the traditional Greek garb, and the gold sandals certainly didn’t help. I still haven’t decided if I’m pleased with myself for being so ‘on theme,’ or if I should just keep laughing at how silly I probably looked in context. Regardless we had a blast at the fest and left with a box full of yummy Greek pastries like karidopita (spice cake with almond filling) and kataïfi (shredded dough filled with walnuts and soaked with honey).
ps You may notice my hair looks a bit different from Friday’s post… the final Phase Three brings a bit more brown back to the front to create a softer transition into blonde.

Necklace: Vintage; Blouse: F21, Belt: Old Navy; Skirt: Jolie & Elizabeth, Borrowed; Heels: Steve Madden
Last week I joined my fellow NOLA Fashion Week partners for an evening to celebrate the Ogden Museum of Southern Art at their annual benefit, Sippin’ in Seersucker. We had such a blast and especially loved judging the best Seersucker ensemble competition (a very fierce one at that!). For my attire I borrowed this perfect seersucker skirt from New Orleans based designers Jolie & Elizabeth, the queens of modern seersucker. Rather than pair it with a traditional white top, I went with this lace cream blouse and bright accessories to add some texture and dimension. Since my husband wore a full seersucker suit at our wedding, the fabric holds a very special place in my heart.
